ISLAND IN THE SAND
Part XVIII
They ran after the Ninety-One robot, as it accelerated, taking the railroad track passages in bouncing leaps, correcting its’ treads for directional control upon each landing. They made no effort to control the noise of their flight, or the fact that they were all illuminated by the only light visible under the huge overhead dome. When the main hub node had been taken out by Jameson’s point-blank round impacting to great effect into its interior, the immediate effect had been the loss of all lighting.
James, please work on Thirty Days as your mental well bing permits, but, do not over do it. Your mental health is more important to me than the book. Don’t get me wrong, the books are captivating. I have the first two books and have shared them with a few vets who had the joy of low draft numbers. I think your books helped them reaffirm how lucky they were to come home vertical.
For the folks who are current on Island in the Sand and Thirty Days, read The Boy. you will not be disappointed.
James, Thank You.
Thanks Scott, for caring. A whole lot of people do not and it is all too easy to forget that.
Semper fi,
Jim
I am really enjoying Sand and 30 days, would love to see how the story develops in Honor off the Cape.
Thanks and I will be back at Honor soon…

Jim
Long story short, I asked if this was AI playing some kind of interactive war game with humans in a maze? You answered “No” and I answered “Ok”
Thank you for wondering about the “Ok” answer to your “No” answer. Lo!
Have a great night
Nancy Lou
Oh, I missed the meaning of what you were asking. Sometimes I wonder about my own intellectual disengagement at certain times!
Semepr fi, my friend,
Jim
Amazing the way you write. Just like 30 Day’s…every sentence, even though it explains the situation at hand, draws more questions than answers of “what next?” I’m completely addicted to your writings.
Thanks Jack, for this big time compliment. I much enjoy the writing of Island.
Semper fi,
Jim
Yes sir. Still with you in both stories. Enjoying both very much. Thank you.
Thanks Jake, there is indeed some crossover in readership, which I intended, of course, but wasn’t sure it would happen.
Thanks for being on of the people who appreciate the work…
Semper fi,
Jim
this is actually a neat story you are telling…i have willingly suspended disbelief
Thanks for the suspension Sam, although I’m not quite sure I understand the usage of it for the consumption of this story.
Thanks for being there reading it and here writing about it…
Semper fi,
Jim
Fantastic.
Great one word compliment Jim. Thank you most sincerely.
Semper fi,
Jim
Well sir, I do not know how you can switch so easily back and forth from this to 30 Days! Both are a credit to your craft! Thank you again!
Actually, it’s relief to write Sand at the same time as I am working on TDhS.
I am not sure why…maybe because they are so different.
Thanks for noticing,
Semper fi,
Jim
Not a big fan of futuristic fiction but with a few exceptions like C.S. Lewis Narnia stories I read to my kids many years ago. I am enjoying this series as well as others you have posted.
that’s a really neat compliment Bob, and thank you very much!!!
Semper fi,
Jim
Great read James , can’t wait till next chapter.
Sunday, if the creek don’t rise!
Semper fi, and thanks Charles,
Jim
Thus…Star Black’s band of ragamuffin’s are lifted by the entities of access! No predictions as to whether her smile is borne of her exclusive gift of intuition. Yet, for having been met and known, I’d venture to say…there’s an un-introduced member of this band about to behave according to it’s name! Don’t ask me why I see a red-haired, blue-eyed baby girl named…Justice!
I like the way your mind works D.D. Always have since you came on here and started commenting. Rare.
Semper fi,
Jim
Quite a switch from 30 Days Jim.. but equally captivating.
Thanks Glenn, and I much enjoy the work back and forth between the two very different pieces.
Semper fi,
Jim
Star is on tough young woman. Jordan has his AI hands full, Lol!
I love this story and can’t wait for more.
James, your imagination is awesome and brilliant.
Thank you for sharing.
Your pebbling friend,
Nancy Lou
I am so glad you are enjoying the story…as much as I ma enjoying reading your comments about it…
Semper fi,
Jim
Hey, James, this is not gonna end up being a bunch of AI robots playing a video game with a bunch of humans running around in as n underground maze is it?
Sorry, I had to ask. Lol
No.
Ok.
OKay, I got the Ok but don’t really understand it because I somehow lost the last comment I commented on…
Semper fi,
Jim
Hope they aren’t jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Sounds as though 91’s programming has taken a hit and the AI is surfacing. With all the lore and legend of that place about anything could be possible. Your story telling gift is running on overdrive.
Thanks Pete, means a lot to me the a few of the ‘vanguard’ readers of Thirty Days are bothering to read my other stuff…
Semper fi, and a big thanks.
Jim
As usual, another great suspenseful chapter. I look forward to the next segment in this story as much as I do with 30 Days. This is an excellent piece of writing
Thank you Seven, I much appreciate hearing from you and your opinion.
Semper fi,
Jim
