Here’s a direct quote from the two leaders of the current republican party in a communique meant to go out to the entire nation:
“Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends.”
Do you notice anything at all wrong with this statement? This well-vetted letter to the nation? “This Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.” Not only is the party comparing Donald Trump to an incoming king they are directly comparing him with Jesus Christ. How important is this to consider on Christmas? Just how far are things going to go off the rails even before Trump becomes president?
Question: Since Christ has been around for “Over two millennia . . .” just how can he be “the new King?”
Hell, John, I think you got my point. What’s wrong with our leaders that they cannot
frame things better than that or express themselves in any kind of intelligent manner?

Elections have consequences! It’s a bit of a reach to spin this expression of holiday well wishes into a political statement. Beneath you.
Nah, politics is simply the word we use to discuss our leaders and what they are doing. They don’t quit for the holidays and neither should we.
What Priebus and Day had to say was either vapidly stupid or it was simply domineering and authoritarian. Take your pick.
I didn’t say the expression. I merely repeated it.

Priebus and Day…..I do hope they were speaking for themselves. While the president of the U.S. is the single most powerful person in our government his power is limited in scope, contrary to popular belief. Most of us survived Bush 43, most of us survived Obama. It is my hope that most of us survive Trump. If he screws up and upsets enough people there will be a correction in two years followed by his removal in four.
You don’t get two years and a correction if the nuclear button gets touched.
I worry about that. My kids did not get duck and cover and I don’t want my grand kids to live under it either.
My trust in Trump was about the same trust I placed in Obama. Zero. We have not had a good president since Bush Sr.
Thanks for the comment though.

I tend to agree with James King. I think it was meant to be a
little bit of sarcasm , aimed at the current administration.
I think everything will be fine in a few months and everyone
may be pleasently surprised at the leadership quality of Mr Trump.
I support some major changes in the immigration policy, mainky
in enforcement of law already in place.
Only time will tell.
We’ve become a nation of extremes. Two sides so far apart there may well be no common ground to reunite us. To listen to and assume the worst from anyone or organization may not be the best policy. To counter this, waiting to see may lead us into some back room deal from hell that completes the split. Stand by your convictions but listen to mine, we may just come to an agreement.
I don’t doubt that with you Walt but I don’t really see it in Trump. The nation unbelievably cast the dice onto
a table that can produce anything from an improvement to total nuclear holocaust. I can’t believe it but it is here.
I wait, like everyone else, on full alert and wondering for the life of me….

First, I’m very curious as to who the ” two leaders ” of the Republican Party were . Second, you could say, that we’ve had a King for the last 8 years…..he did whatever he wanted by misuse of executive order and has caused a lot of damage to or country….our debt, our global stature and race relations in our country , right off the top of my head. Trump has been elected President and he deserves a chance, that’s how it works. There was none of the crap that the Democrats have been pulling after Obama’s election.
Protest is vital to this nation’s health and I don’t care who is doing or from what party.
They are entitled. I am not out there protesting. I’m in here worried a bit about the fact that nuclear weapons
cannot be recalled and we just gave a guy the power to launch and he does not seem totally rational all the time.
I worry.
Thanks for the knowledgable comment and your support.
