New Years Observation

The real first snow and GSR of the year.

I don’t know why but today is the day when the impact of the New Year made its appearance all over Lake Geneva and the surrounding area. I know because I was delivering our weekly independent newspaper, The Geneva Shore Report from business to business. And the verbal complaints were continuing and all about money. How much money people don’t have and how outrageous are the people who want the money from the people who don’t have it or don’t want to part with it.
It got tiring.

I was walking along Main Street with an employee behind me. Unbeknownst to me she went into a business to deliver. I heard her steps still tracking behind me and started in about how all the snow laying around must be filled with lead from some unseen strip mine nearby. People had to be eating the snow instead of drinking the water because the depth of stupidity I was witnessing around me was simply too high.

A male voice intoned, “yeah, I get the drift of that.” I stopped in my tracks. The guy crossed the street and moved on. My first public resolution of the year is to shut the hell up about other people’s stupidity so as not to demonstrate my own.
