ISLAND IN THE SAND
Chapter XXXIV
Star stared at the three-dimensional image appearing atop the console and could not believe her eyes. All thoughts of aliens, Distants, artificial intelligence, and even the complex disappeared from her mind. She concentrated on the shifting images, which were so clear in the presentation that they seemed real themselves. She looked into Sly’s eyes as he continued to stare into her own, somehow able to know and concentrate on whatever was receiving and transmitting his image.
“Is he that dumb?” she whispered to Jameson, who was also giving the images in front of him his full attention.
this is like a kids 30 days keeps me going thanks
Thanks for that compliment Dave…
Semper fi,

James, As much as I loved Diana Riggs in Get Smart, I don’t think she’s a part of Star’s band (13th para).
Appreciate the comment, Tom.
But I cannot find the spot you are referencing?
Help!
Thanks again,
Jim
OK, I caught it!

Star Black…come back, full circle to Times, Like These:
Take my mind, my soulful muse…
Wear my body down with dread disease.
Take my Soul, my tortures choose…
What matters most to me are Times, Like These
Make me Old, Collect my Dues…
Blow my Honour down on Wind Swept Seas,
My Life’s Last toll, to Trust Ensues…
What matters most to me are Times, Like These
Times…Like the Times I feel I Love You…
Times…Like the Times you tenderly,
Slip your hand in mine…Then hold me in your Arms…
Times…Like These,
Times…Like These.
Come Walk with Me, We’ll Share Our Views…
Here and now Arrived, On Bended Knees,
Unto the End of Time,no more our Time to Lose…
What Matters most you see, To Be…As We…Are,
Times, Like These…
Times, Like These…
Times, Like These.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first book of Island In The Sand, James! Great work…I look forward in anticipation of every word you’ll write which continues to speak of something more! -ddh
Great stuff, as usual Dennis. Where did you end up after you left Santa Fe?
Semper fi,
Jim
Back to Albuquerque on the Railrunner. Then, with thanks to Joseph I found a fare that would take me to El Paso for a very reasonable rate on a bus trip back to LA. You may appreciate this Jim…the bus was stopped at the Arizona border to be boarded by the Border Patrol people. I was in the fourth row from the front and these guys arbitrarily started asking all passengers for their papers! One by one the guys were checking everyone’s documents. Then the guy up front locks his eyes on mine…he mumbles something incoherent and asks, ” you are a citizen of what country of origin?” I looked about me and replied, ” I beg your pardon?” He looked at my quizzical expression and repeated, ” Country of origin?” I answered slowly as I’d noticed everyone’s attention turn my way…” U.-S.-….A! That’s when everybody started applauding and smiling! The Border Patrol turned to the driver handed him back his manifest and said, ” your on your way!” I felt totally accepted by everyone else despite not knowing anyone or whether they spoke my language! Apparently…in that moment, it didn’t even matter! Home safe and sound before I knew it! Thanks for a great event and the grand pleasure of meeting you and some very, very nice people.
No ‘normal’ life for you Dennis. Glad you made it home safe. It was a grand pleasure to get to know you….
Semper fi,
Jim
Another great segment! Can’t wait for book two!
Thanks for the compliment Jerry…
Semper fi,
Jim
An appropriate ending for volume one and I’m looking forward to see how volume two develops.
I sure hope Santa Fe went well!
Thank you, Monty
Hope to have published in paperback and digitally soon.
Santa Fe was enjoyable, just wish we had more attendees.
Semper fi,
Jim
Jim, you have outdone yourself. The last paragraph is probably the most terrifying but hope filled thing I’ve read in ages. The bookshelf grows. Thank you.
Thanks, Walt
I believe you will also like Book 2.

Star and Jameson both placed their rifles on the deck and went to work on the hatch. When it was open they picked up the rifles and raced through with (Ninety-Nine)(ninety-one) right behind them.
What an ending as they sail off to meet the new challenge.
Thanks, Pete.
Corrected the ninety-nine
Excellent.
What I like most is this story started off as an apocalyptic human survival story and you subtly and expertly morphed into a intriguing and compelling sci-fi novel.
Well done!
Always appreciate your input, Rob.
And you continued support.
More coming!
End of Book One, that’s great news, I’ll be looking forward to Book Two
Will be starting soon. Focusing on Completion of “Third Ten Days, Thirty Days Has September”
