Reflection # 22 of the Coronavirus (COVID19) Pandemic
April 11, 2020
Near-total unawareness and dunce cap density of directed thought.
Yes, I am writing about perhaps ninety percent of the American public, and its more than knee-jerk reaction to the governmental and mass media attack with respect to the Corona Virus.
What do I mean?
As an anthropologist, I remain fairly up to date on what is happening in the world with respect to its landmass population of humankind. What led me to write that first sentence of this short article?
How about the verifiable fact (fact check me) that from the time of the first appearance of what we have come to know as the COVID-19 virus onslaught, 13,500,000 (or so) human beings have died on this planet due to all causes? There is little or no news about that.
Since the COVID-19 onslaught, as of this morning, in the New York Times and Chicago Tribune and on MSNBC and all the rest, the 100,000 mark has been reached in deaths worldwide due to that virus.
Yet, it is the 100,000 figure that is causing everyone to be driven to the grocery stores to gather hoarded goods, to leave jobs, schools, churches, and even loved ones dying in hospitals to die alone. It has caused humans to abandon one another to seek protection and wear hazmat attire. And this weird statistical anomaly is going to cause a whole lot more…which is beginning to alert me to the fact that this all has little to do with the virus outbreak.
How can 18,803 attributed deaths to COVID-19 in the U.S., stacked against 660,000 who’ve died of other causes in the same time frame have such impact?
In my county in Wisconsin, population 104,000, there have been no deaths…but I can’t go to the park, to church, to city meetings, to any restaurant, any theater, visit anyone in a hospital and much much more?
This is an exhibition of near-total unawareness of real fact on the part of the public and it is way too extensive to be the result of something that happened by accident.
The big question that rising up from this awful muck beginning to stick to each one of us is: what’s coming next?
The right to assemble is effectively gone. The right to protest essentially gone. The right to even complain anywhere is nearly traitorous.
What’s coming?
I feel something coming.
Don’t you feel the slightest tingle?
I have turned off the news. Sick of their fear mongering and pretentiousness. In Ohio we are told to shelter in place but other states have imposed way more restrictive terms. The next round of governors elections will be very interesting. If the clowns get reelected then we have truly become a nation of sheep. VN 69-70 disabled combat vet. Locked and loaded and ready for bear. Keep bringing it Jim
We are all shaven lemurs come down from the trees to fight on the forest floor over the fruit that has fallen…and to lie about it. The fruit is 2.2 trillion dollars so far.
The lies have just begun…one of which is the hundreds of billions for small business loans that have proven to be just about impossible to get…so where will that money go/
We will likely never know. Thanks for the comment.

Mr. Strauss, I encourage you to dig a little deeper into this pandemic. The numbers are suggesting two opposite conclusions, one where we overestimated the severity of this novel virus or we acted appropriately limiting deaths in the short run. From my 40 plus years in healthcare and my limited direct knowledge, I have been under the impression that this is a “novel” ie. unique corona virus. There is/was limited information on those parameters of the virus that contribute to its lethality, infectious nature, herd (common) immune status, etc. In addition early testing was limited both by quality, both pre analytical and analytical, sensitivity and specificity of reagents, producing false negative and false positive results, availability of reagents, not discounting regulatory hurdles for the hospitals and laboratories. From my perspective, I would rather trust the public health experts but I can understand the skeptics. Only time will tell.
Trust the numbers, although in this day and age even such figures presented by supposed centers of integrity must be held to be suspect.

Yes I feel that this thing is Media driven and yes I am paying attention. in about 3 weeks if things dont open up then I will be worried.
I don’t know what the ultimate goal is except chaos and violence. I don’t think the poor and downtrodden can handle three more weeks.
But then, maybe the leaders who are doing this awful thing know more than I do.

This was never about the virus. You don’t shut down the world economy over the super flu. If I had to guess it would be the globalist versus the nationalist. This was triggered by Trump’s presidency and his attack on the established order. Trade agreements, global warming, sanctioned political corruption and out of control governmental agencies. Thereare a bunch of conspiracy theories about who the globalist are but I have no clue.
Suffice to say that things are not as they appear, or at least that is becoming a very confirmed position forming in my mind.
I will watch so closely, hope even more and then pray that I am wrong.
Thanks for the comment and being with me…

I feel more than a slight tingle when a so-called expert an unelected official agrees a total lockdown might be called for. The famous Fauci expert on all disease whose claim to fame is that he has been on the dole for over 50yrs and has never cured anything.
I have been uncomfortable with him and every other medial professional I have seen on national television spouting the same draconian stuff.
WTF are they thinking? People are feeling like they can file with the SBA and get support…well, good luck until maybe next year or later.
This country can’t even count its citizens in less than two years, much less pay them.
Thanks for the note and the support.

James you are welding that weapon of words like a pro Liber De Opresso. Spot on Brother! Like I’ve said before, conditioning of the mind to accept the unreasonable. It’s happening and most don’t know what is fixing to smack them dead in their ass. I say that as I go my essentials in my bug out bag and pack. I will not be surprised nor go hungry. I will not be reduced to beg for food and surrender what’s left of my freedoms. I’m encouraged by your awareness and sounding of the alarm. I might just be willing to follow you Junior. Keep up the good work. Salute Brother.
Thank you Lynn. Salute right back to you. I don’t know what’s coming but each day, almost each hour, it seems like another draconian social punishment is
added to the mix and portrayed as something else for our safety.

James I feel the same way as you, some rights have been taken for sure. I do believe the government is planning something. It amazes me how people just accept anything with no questions, like sherp going to slaughter. I really enjoy your opinion and agree with you. Thanks for standing up and telling it like it is.
Stalin said that voters were not important. It is the people who count the votes that are important. This applies to the scenario we are looking at right here with the virus.
We don’t have tests but we have test results all over the place. We have deaths but not autopsy derived deaths. We have ‘recovered’ numbers (tiny) but no definition for what recovery
is. They are counting the votes. The nation has already paid a big price but that price is apparently just the beginning of the charges that will be applied…

Jim
Interesting. How will we know if this world shut down is because of an error in judgement. I don’t know the estimated total death if the virus had been allowed to run its course. If the world population of 8 billion would have been effected in proportion to what they say the United States. They, CDC guess, say about 2 million deaths in U.S. out of 350 million, that amounts to about 0.6 of 1%. World wide that would be, if everything else equal, world wide that amounts to 40 to 45 million deaths. So is reducing the number of deaths from this virus by 40 million or so, is this shut down worth it? Probably. If what the scientists tests say are true. if what they say is true, and we don’t try as hard as we are trying, are we not all sociopaths.?
350 million getting the virus? I don’t think so. Would not make sense that everyone would get it.
The numbers don’t make sense. Don’t believe your lying eyes is a phrase that comes to mind…

👍 100% correct
Thanks Jim, much appreciated. Hard to go against the swelling forces of media and governmental presentation.

There is something coming. I totally agree. I feel more than a tingle.
Yes, and it is a feeling I’ve wanted to live long without.
Where has my trust gone? About the same place as why hope…

Whitmer just banned fishing in Michigan.. IN MICHIGAN!
Yes, and they will get even more restrictive as this garrot around the neck of the nation is tightened down to
the point of near death.

It feels like a calm before a storm. Sadly a shit storm that will, as you say lead to uncertainty in the years, likely the generations to come. I get the fear and knee jerk reaction, it WAS engineered, and as you say, any commentary against such action is seen as anti – what? Antisocial? The numbers DO NOT add up. millions die everyday of much more preventable causes yet we don’t spend enough time or treasure addressing these causes. What is next? the shoe will fall and I can only hope it is not on our necks
Yes, Christopher, this is a long way from over…and what over looks like many months from now is not necessarily pretty.
In the meantime the suffering is going to be increasing ever more each week and then each day and then each hour.
The powers that be and the media are already saying that things will never go back to being the same. You mean we gave
away our way of life, our beliefs, our constitution and history and we did it all in a few months and for what?
